Longitudinal waves in homogeneous anisotropic cylindrical bars immersed in fluid
نویسنده
چکیده
The propagation of a longitudinal wave in an anisotropic cylindrical bar immersed in water is considered. Energy is leaked into the surrounding fluid in the form of traveling waves, and this leakage determines the amplitude of the signal in the rod. This aspect is important in nondestructive evaluation of composite rods. The governing equation of the longitudinal waves traveling in the rod is obtained and is solved numerically to obtain the dispersion curves and the attenuation, which is due to the energy leaked into the fluid. Results are presented for rods of five different materials. Disciplines Aerospace Engineering | Structures and Materials Comments This article is published as Dayal, Vinay. Analysis of Plane Waves in Anisotropic Magneto-Piezothermoelastic Diffusive Body with Fractional Order Derivative
In this paper the propagation of harmonic plane waves in a homogeneous anisotropic magneto-piezothermoelastic diffusive body with fractional order derivative is studied. The governing equations for a homogeneous transversely isotropic body in the context of the theory of thermoelasticity with diffusion given by Sherief et al. [1] are considered as a special case. It is found that three types of...
متن کاملDynamic Behavior of Anisotropic Protein Microtubules Immersed in Cytosol Via Cooper–Naghdi Thick Shell Theory
In the present research, vibrational behavior of anisotropic protein microtubules (MTs) immersed in cytosol via Cooper–Naghdi shell model is investigated. MTs are hollow cylindrical structures in the eukaryotic cytoskeleton which surrounded by filament network. The temperature effect on vibration frequency is also taken into account by assuming temperature-dependent material properties for MTs....
متن کاملEffect of Initial Stress on Propagation of Love Waves in an Anisotropic Porous Layer
In the present paper, effect of initial stresses on the propagation of Love waves has been investigated in a fluid saturated, anisotropic, porous layer lying in welded contact over a prestressed, non-homogeneous elastic half space. The dispersion equation of phase velocity has been derived. It has been found that the phase velocity of Love waves is considerably influenced by porosity and anisot...
متن کاملSaint-Venant torsion of non-homogeneous anisotropic bars
The BEM is applied to the solution of the torsion problem of non-homogeneous anisotropic non-circular prismatic bars. The problem is formulated in terms of the warping function. This formulation leads to a second order partial differential equation with variable coefficients, subjected to a generalized Neumann type boundary condition. The problem is solved using the Analog Equation Method (AEM)...
متن کاملInfluence of Rigidity, Irregularity and Initial Stress on Shear Waves Propagation in Multilayered Media
The propagation of shear waves in an anisotropic fluid saturated porous layer over a prestressed semi-infinite homogeneous elastic half-space lying under an elastic homogeneous layer with irregularity present at the interface with rigid boundary has been studied. The rectangular irregularity has been taken in the half-space. The dispersion equation for shear waves is derived by using the pertur...
